3 Essential Accessories for Fall
Here in Indy, the October weather has finally settled into a slight chill that lasts all day, instead of being freezing in the morning, blazing in the afternoon and perfect before bedtime. With these dwindling temps, it can be a good time to check your closet for items you can use to bundle up while still looking chic. I’ve picked my top 3 favorite essential fall accessories to talk about and show you why I love them for chillier weather.
Scarves
I love having a few different types of scarves in my wardrobe to help cozy up an outfit and add a little more texture to a look. While I love a good infinity scarf, I naturally lean towards purchasing blanket scarves or normal scarves that are a little wider. These are perfect for if you’re not feeling a cardigan that day and is a great excuse to wear a blanket to work and get away with it! Just kidding, but it does feel that way and I love how warm these scarves keep me. I tend to buy neutral colored and jewel tone scarves (my all year round colors are burgundy, olive green, and mustard yellow) so they can be paired with any kind of outfit and still be functional.
Hats
Hats are a great way to keep warm this season. A lot of the heat from your body escapes from the top so keeping the heat in with a hat will help a lot (and can also hide third day hair if you’re running low on dry shampoo). I love the wide brimmed hats for a cute fall look, like a dress with some tall boots. Beanies are also great for more casual, everyday outfits and they are super cozy. I’ve recently been loving the “newsboy/train conductor” style hat, and I think it bridges the gap between beanies and wide brimmed hats when it comes to the range from casual to more dressy. Like my scarves, I usually buy neutral and fall toned hats so they can be easily matched with my other accessories and outfit.
Boots
Boots boots boots! Fall weather is perfect for boots, and I love finding ones that are tall-girl-friendly. My favorite kinds of boots are the ones that lace up so they can be adjusted depending on if you’re wearing pants that need to be tucked into them or not. I have a couple pairs that are both short and tall, but I also have my faux combat boots that are a staple for my fall uniform (definitely on the hunt for some Doc Marten deals this Black Friday). I’m also loving patterned boots this season, like snakeskin print and floral to add a little something to an outfit and perhaps spark a conversation. Short boots are also perfectly paired with a cute pair of wool socks that can peek out of the top to add a little more texture and detail to your look.
Those are my basic fall essentials that I use to take my outfit to the next level! I am perpetually cold so I love having these items to keep me warm as the temperatures drop.
