Giving Tuesday with Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana

For many of us, this time of year is one of joy, abundance, and time with family. For our local neighbors struggling this year however, it can be a time of hunger. Since it was founded in 1980, Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana has provided over twenty-five million meals for our neighbors in need with a mission to lead the fight against hunger. By partnering with almost 600 community partners and agencies, Gleaners has been able to allocate meals for those in hunger in twenty-one counties. Thanks to them, our hungry neighbors can find resources at local food pantries, shelters and soup kitchens around the state.

During the holiday season, it can be difficult to know how you can help those in need. Gleaners provides a Continued Giving Campaign this year that allows you to contribute a monthly donation that can be as low as $5. For the price of a cup of coffee a week, you can provide 160 meals per month, which can create an impact of almost 2,000 meals a year for our hungry neighbors in Indiana. Your contribution helps families have food on the table even after holidays have passed and help curb food insecurities in our state.

Indiana has been known to be a food desert, with over 30% of our population, or over 200,000 people, living over a mile away from the nearest grocery store. Gleaners has expanded their services to provide meals to hungry Hoosiers statewide, year round. Donations made from people like you can go further than just the non-perishable goods that can be donated to the food bank and overall create a big impact. On this Giving Tuesday, take time to care for your neighbors in need by participating in the Continued Giving Campaign and make a difference in our city. Donate here today!
