New Year's Eve Cocktails to Ring in 2020 With
Christmas is over, the decorations are all put away, and we are in that awkward in between time before New Year’s where we don’t really know what to do with ourselves, especially if we don’t have to go back to work yet. New Year’s Eve is actually my favorite holiday, I love everything it represents: new beginnings, time with friends, and food and drinks galore. If you volunteered to bring the drinks for your New Year’s get-together, hopefully this post can help you out when you are stumped on what to make but still want to be festive.
Sparkly Champagne Jello Shots
This is the perfect thing to bring to any New Year’s Eve party since they are sure to be gobbled up. Jello shots are easily customizable so you could add any kind of flavor, frozen fruit, or even gold foil to the top to make them extra sparkly!
Ingredients:
1 Tbsp. sugar
15 oz. of your favorite champagne (I just used a Brut from Aldi)
3 envelopes of Jello (I wanted it to be flavored so I used strawberry)
Frozen bag of mixed berries
Steps:
Place your sugar and 10 oz. of champagne in a sauce pan.
Add in the gelatin and let sit for 2-3 minutes.
Set your burner on low heat and stir until everything has dissolved completely. This takes about 4-5 minutes.
Remove from stove, add in the remaining 5 oz. of champagne and mix to combine.
Pour mixture into a shallow pan and chill in refrigerator for at least an hour. (I poured my mixture into a muffin tin to maintain a circular shape and then added a couple berries per circle)
Cut into squares and dip one side into your preferred sugar/sprinkles. (I cut the circles in half and dipped them in glitter)
Pop Rock Vodka Fizz Martini
Start 2020 off with a POP! Pantone has announced that the Color of the Year is Classic Blue so I thought a blue cocktail would be the perfect way to celebrate. Pop rocks surround the rim for flavor and a little extra kick, but you could add just sugar or even garnish it with rock candy.
Ingredients:
Simple syrup
1 bag of Pop Rocks
1 oz. Vermouth
Candy of your choice for garnishing
Steps:
Prepare your martini glass by pouring some simple syrup on a plate and coating the rim of the glass in it. On another plate, pour out the Pop Rocks and coat the rim so the Pop Rocks stick to the simple sugar.
In a shaker, pour the vermouth and vodka over ice and shake until cold.
Pour mix into the prepared glass and garnish with candy, you can even pour the leftover Pop Rocks into the drink for some flavor.
Shimmery 75
The French 75 is a classic cocktail and perfect for New Year’s Eve since it always involves some champagne. Spice it up a little with some edible glitter and this will be a cocktail to remember in 2020. You should be able to hit up a craft store for edible glitter or Amazon Prime may have it delivered in time for New Year’s Eve.
Ingredients:
3/4 oz. simple syrup
3/4 oz. lemon juice
Your favorite champagne
Steps:
Mix gin, simple syrup, and lemon juice in a shaker with ice.
Shake until the outside of the shaker is very cold to the touch.
Pour into a coupe glass and top it off with champagne and a spiral of lemon twist if you prefer. Stir in some glitter for a shimmery 75!
