7 Quick Road Trips Outside of Indy
While Indianapolis may be the “Crossroads of America”, there are a ton of cute little towns and places to visit right outside the city, and with the fall weather approaching it’s a great time to explore cozy and quaint towns. You’d be surprised what you can find when you leave the hustle and bustle of downtown and explore towns close by or even venture to neighboring states. Each of the places on my list is only two hours or less from Indy and make for quick and fun weekend getaways! Let me know which one you visit!
Logansport, IN - 77 miles, 1.5 hours
Logansport has so many great memories for my boyfriend, but no visit is complete with out a trip to Sycamore Drive In for some of their famous custard! We also love riding the carousel and trying to catch the gold ring for a free ride.
Metamora, IN - 67 miles, 1.25 hours
This little town is a thrifter’s dream! There are lots of antique shops to peruse and find some hidden gems. They also have an old canal and the country’s oldest wooden aqueduct. The first weekend of October this year is Canal Day where lots of local vendors will be available to shop from.
Cincinnati, OH - 112 miles, 2 hours
There are tons of things to do in Cincy, whether you’re a foodie and want to check out the restaurant scene, a creative who wants to visit museums, or a sports fanatic who wants to enjoy a game. They also have some great breweries!
Louisville, KY- 115 miles, 1.75 hours
If bourbon is your thing, look no further than the numerous distilleries of Louisville! If you’re not into that, there are a ton of cultural interest spots like the Kentucky Derby Museum, the Conrad-Caldwell House Museum, and the Louisville Slugger Museum and Factory.
Columbus, IN - 46 miles, 48 minutes
Columbus is an eclectic, artsy town where creatives can find inspiration. Be sure to stop by the Miller House, it’s run by Newfields and features stunning 70s decor and design, including a sunken living room.
Nashville, IN - 44 miles, 1 hour
If you’re thinking of Tennessee, you might be a little off, but you won’t be disappointed by Indiana’s Nashville. The quaint streets are lined with small businesses and local shops which makes it easy to wander and the perfect place to buy gifts.
Fort Wayne, IN - 125 miles, 2 hours
This city might not be on everyone’s radar when it comes to things to do, but Fort Wayne actually has some great spots! From rooftop bars to great restaurants, you’ll leave Fort Wayne very satisfied!
